LISTEN – SILENT – ENLIST

A short reminder about listening… 

A participant at one of my workshops came up with an additional word to the anagram based on the word listen… 

Think about writing the following three words on a Post-it note and “post it” on your refrigerator door. They might be the 3 most important things you can do on your path to being on purpose, helping others and achieving your personal goals. 

LISTEN

SILENT

ENLIST 

People are attracted and will listen to people who know how to listen to them and respond to their answers. They are more inclined to buy your solutions because they feel good about you and the fact that you will understand where they are coming from. 

Don’t just take my word for this. You can experience for yourself the power of listening with this simple exercise. 

When you get the opportunity today, start a conversation and simply listen to the answers and ask questions based on the answers the other person gives you. Don’t make any statements, don’t agree with anything, don’t offer any suggestions, don’t talk about your own experiences and don’t interrupt. Just listen and ask interesting questions based on what the other person tells you. 

Observe the other person’s reactions. You’ll notice they will relax, probably tell you a lot of personal information, get very chatty and at the end of the conversation probably thank you for your time. 

The rewards for effective listening are enormous but it does take some work on your part. Even if you’ve been using the “Natural Selling” approach for some time, it’s all too easy to slip back into previous habits. I know because I catch myself doing it every now and again! 

So, it’s well worth brushing up on your listening skills. Simply read Chapters 7 and 8 in my book “How To Sell Network Marketing Without Fear, Anxiety or Losing Your Friends!” and listen to CD number 4 in my audio program “Best Of Michael Oliver’s 6-Day Fast Track Teleclasses“. 

One final thought. By listening to others, you’ll find they will listen to you. It’s simply the “Law of Reciprocity” in action. When you have that working for you, you’ll find building your business and getting the results you want will be so much easier.
