New Year’s Resolutions

I was reading in a magazine recently about the number of people who make resolutions at the beginning of the New Year and never see them through! 

No, this is not about how you can stick to your resolutions! This is about how you can help other people stick to theirs! After all, if the Purpose of a business is to help other people solve their problems, isn’t this a great time to find out what those are and offer to help – if it is appropriate to do so? 

For example, what are the things that many people resolve to do? Here are a few … lose weight, exercise, create more income, have a balanced lifestyle, stop smoking, take care of their health, reduce stress, find security, take time off, spend more time with the kids, travel… 

Most of these are Problems or Needs, many of which you have potential solution(s). 

So here is your opportunity to use Natural Selling and ‘The Magic and Power of Dialogue’ to explore with them the depths of what’s behind their decision to make a change… why they want what they want, how they feel about not having it, how they would feel if they did get what they wanted, etc.. This will create within most people an even stronger need to do something.

If you ask the right types of questions at the right time, listen to what they actually want, (not what you think they want), and find out their reasons behind wanting to make a change, you’ll help them come to their own natural conclusion. 

Remember! You’re doing this for them, not you! So detach from your own needs, concentrate on theirs and in the words of Franz Kafka… you’ll have the world rolling “in Ecstasy at your feet.”

It is truly a wonderful gift to give someone the kind of listening and feedback where they hear themselves speaking what is important to them to the point where they are willing to take action to solve their problems…the kind of solutions our opportunities provide.
